WAR HORSE | VIVIAN BEAUMONT THEATRE
After earning success in London’s National Theatre, West End’s New London Theatre, earning several acclaims such as honors from the Olivier Awards, the London Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards and the Evening Standard Theatre Awards, and after being watched by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on its second run at the National Theatre, the Michael Morpungo 1982 best seller “War Horse”, from which the critically acclaimed play written by Nick Stafford is based, will be traveling trans-Atlantic to relive the war drama on the Great White Way stage. “War Horse” is the moving and heartwarming story between Albert, a young man whose age was deemed too young to be enlisted for war service at the time, and Joey, his horse who unlike his young master, has seen the aftermath of the First World War and has eventually lost its way back to its master. Albert sets himself on a quest to find Joey amidst the dangerous perils of war and the fact that he himself is underage to be engaging in such a life threatening journey. Set to premiere at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on April 14, 2011, the cast for the upcoming Broadway play is yet to be announced and so is the creative team. Fortunately, the directorial spots are already filled with Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris already on board.
